Green living? Sustainable, what?!!? Save the planet? We’ve heard these buzz words all over the place. We’ve heard them say that our rivers are drying up, the ice caps are melting, and temperatures get higher and higher. We have doubled our population since President Kennedy, and our bees are dying.
Quite frankly, we shouldn’t be thinking about “saving the planet” but rather saving humanity. Trust me, if all the humans come and go like the dinosaurs, the planet will regenerate itself and move on. We’re just a blink of an eye in the timeline of the Planet Earth.
So we are trying to make an effort to repair the damages we have caused. Being an environmentalist doesn’t conflict with being a capitalist. We want to increase production for our local farmers, and create a higher demand for US-based industries that make environmentally products. Love the idea or hate it, how can we argue with common sense and hard science?
- Reduce our water needs by asking our guests to re-use their towels and bed linens during their stay.
- Eliminate harmful chemicals by using Green Seal certified cleaning products that are safe for the environment and safe for our housekeeping team.
- Minimize our impact on landfills by using EcoSoft™ tissues, toilet paper and paper towels. These 100% recycled products were produced with methods less harmful to the environment and exceeds EPA guidelines for post-consumer wastepaper content.
- Save energy by switching all bulbs from the standard incandescent to the Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs. Utilizing CFLs will generate approximately 75% less energy than their standard counterpart. Did you know that if every household switched one bulb to CFL, it would be equivalent to taking 1,000,000 cars off the road?
- Improve our guest experience by providing high end spa products that completely eliminate unnecessary packaging. We have installed the Club Amenities line of dispensed bath products. Their top 3 products Alter Ego Moisture Body Wash, Tropical Conditioning Shampoo, and Conditioner – are enveloped in a base of Aloe Vera Barbadensis Leaf Juice. We know you’ll love it!!
- Create a demand for organic and natural foods by making an irresistible breakfast. Eating organically and naturally is not only great for our bodies, but great for our farmers, too.
Most of these practices will not only conserve our resources, but we can potentially save money. These savings can be passed back to our guests, resulting in a lesser room rate. How can anyone argue with that?
